Cayosoft Awarded Multi-Year Contract with Internal Revenue Service to Manage Microsoft Identity Environment

by Jon Seals | June 16, 2025 | | 0 comments

Cayosoft, the leader in hybrid Microsoft Active Directory (AD), Entra ID, and Microsoft 365 management and security, has secured a high-profile contract with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) replacing aging and costly legacy solutions.

The IRS, the largest U.S. civilian agency, chose Cayosoft as the best solution to its complex problem. It needed to significantly increase efficiency and modernize its Microsoft infrastructure management platform with secure, resilient hybrid capabilities. They conducted an extensive review of all vendor options available on the market through a process of in-depth technical interviews and proof-of-concept demonstrations. Cayosoft was the only vendor that met IRS requirements.

“Modernizing infrastructure is a key initiative for the federal government, and we’re honored that Cayosoft was selected as a trusted technology partner to support that mission,” said Bob Bobel, co-founder and CEO of Cayosoft. “This implementation delivers stronger security, greater efficiency, and the resiliency needed to sustain operations during disruptions. The IRS recognized the strategic advantage of Cayosoft’s unified approach to Manage, Monitor, and Recover—capabilities uniquely built into our platform. It is a meaningful step forward in federal IT modernization and a testament to our purpose-built architecture for hybrid identity protection.

The IRS previously used tools from a legacy vendor to manage Microsoft platforms, users, and identities, but increasingly encountered issues with the older multi-tool legacy solution not designed for cloud and hybrid environments, making it necessary to conduct significant customization to avoid outages and blind spots. Cayosoft provides the IRS with a modern, efficient, and consolidated architecture with comprehensive capabilities that increase the resilience while reducing operational costs of the United States’ critical infrastructure.

Cayosoft’s agentless platform now enables the IRS to meet strict Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) thresholds by restoring entire Active Directory forests in minutes and capturing near real-time identity changes across AD, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365. With built-in Zero Trust delegation, automated license provisioning, and immutable, malware-tested backups, Cayosoft eliminates scripting, reduces reinfection risk, and ensures compliance with federal mandates like FISMA and IRS Publication 1075. The platform’s native support for virtual attributes and full orchestration across multi-domain environments was critical to IRS deployment success, delivering innovation, resilience, and cost efficiency that the legacy stack could no longer provide.
