Change in the management of HDI Global SE, Italy branch

by Jon Seals | September 23, 2019 | Uncategorized | 0 comments

Effective as per October 31, 2019 and by amicable and mutual agreement, Francesco Semprini, the long-serving Managing Director of HDI Global SE (HDI) / Italy branch, located in Milano and Genova, is leaving the company at his own request to accept a new professional challenge outside the HDI Group. Alberto Bellomi is taking on the role of Head (Managing Director) of HDI Global SE / Italy branch as per November 1, 2019.

Francesco Semprini led the Italian branch of HDI for almost 13 years. “The company thanks Francesco Semprini for his successful work and his loyalty over all these years and wishes him all the best and every success in his future career and personal endeavours,” David Hullin, the Board member at HDI Global SE responsible for the Division Europe, commented.

Alberto Bellomi has similarly served HDI in Italy for roughly 13 years following HDI’s acquisition of Gerling. Subject to approval by the relevant local authorities and responsible supervisory authorities, he will take over as Head of HDI Global SE / Italy branch. In his current capacity as Chief Underwriting Officer for HDI in Italy, Alberto Bellomi is responsible for the business lines Property, Casualty, Group Accident, Energy, Marine, Engineering and Aviation.

As the responsible Board member of HDI Global SE, David Hullin added: “Alberto Bellomi has seen all aspects of the industrial insurance business from different perspectives. He is well connected on the local market, knows our customers and local distribution partners very well and will ensure that HDI continues to expand its strong presence and proximity to local customers and brokers. His high level of acceptance within the branch is also an important stabilizing factor in such a change of management.“

Alberto Bellomi built up a considerable wealth of expertise in his almost 30 years of work in the insurance sector. Prior to his time with HDI, he spent many years with Gerling on both the underwriting and claims sides in the period up to 2007. Furthermore, he had previously worked for Winterthur in the sales department and gained experience at a local insurance broking company as well as the in-house broker of a corporate client.

About HDI Global SE (HDI)

As an industrial lines insurer, HDI Global SE (HDI) meets the needs of SMEs, industrial companies and corporate customers with insurance solutions that are specifically tailored to their requirements. In addition to HDI’s prominent position in the German and broader European market, the company also has operations in more than 150 countries through foreign branch offices, subsidiary and peer companies, and network partners. The company is thus able to offer its customers local policies for their global operations, which ensure that the established service and insurance protection is extended for all covered risks worldwide.

HDI Global SE is a company in the Talanx Group and manages the Industrial Lines Division within the Group. More than three thousand employees in this division generated gross written premiums of approx. EUR 4.7 billion in the year 2018. The rating agency Standard & Poor’s has given the Talanx Primary Group a financial strength rating of A+/stable (strong).
