FEMA is hosting a webinar to inform partners and answer questions regarding the Public Assistance (PA) Mitigation Cost Share Incentives policy that was released in early October. The webinar will take place Nov. 13. The policy outlines the actions states, Tribal Nations, territories and certain private nonprofits may take to receive an increase in the federal cost share of their projects. The interim policy is effective for major disasters declared on or after Sept. 26, 2024.
In the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, FEMA remains committed to promoting resilience before and after disasters. This policy is a major incentive to help communities build resilience during recovery by maximizing mitigation investments as they repair and rebuild their facilities and infrastructure through an increased cost share. FEMA published the Public Assistance Mitigation Cost Share Incentives Policy which outlines new opportunities for communities to undertake voluntary activities to invest in mitigation and adopt the latest building and energy conservation codes to build resilience. The agency is also accepting public comments on the policy via the Federal eRulemaking Portal [Federal Register :: Public Assistance Mitigation Cost Share Incentives Policy] until Jan. 29, 2025.
The webinar has valuable information for Tribal Nations, state, local and territorial partners, and private nonprofits. Please join using the information below. Advanced registration is not required.
