Dr. Sam Mayhugh, is an executive psychologist who recently retired from IBH, a behavioral healthcare company he founded over 30 years ago. His professional life has also been spent in private practice, in hospitals and outpatient offices. He graduated from Olivet Nazarene University and Purdue University. His PhD is from Indiana State UniversitY and attended post doctoral certificate programs at Harvard and Oxford University. He has authored five works, including C.I.P. Counseling Interaction Profile (Association for Productive Teaching, 1969), co-authored the text, Managed Behavioral Health Care, an Industry Perspective, with Sharon A. Shueman, Ph.D. and Warwick G. Troy, PhD, MPH, (Charles C. Thomas, Springfield, Illinois, 1994, Harold’s Story – A Journey of Uncommon Healing, (Trilogy Christian Publishers, 2019). Entrepreneurial activities began in 1983 and grew to operations for fifteen million people nationally, and revenue of over 40 million dollars.

He has experience in building, launching and optimizing products, clinical protocols, tools, process development, and health benefit administration. He holds a doctorate in psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary. As a psychologist, he is experienced in private practice including outpatient, hospital, and residential settings. He co-authored The Development and Maintenance of Provider Networks, in Managed Behavioral Health Care, An Industry Perspective, and has special expertise in working with crisis intervention, HR, benefits, senior executive leadership, and safety issues.
