NewtonX Current: 2022 Cybersecurity Report on Business Outlook and Key Trends

by Jon Seals | September 15, 2021 | | 0 comments

Report provides cybersecurity decision-makers, influencers, and providers with up-to-the-minute insights

NEW YORK – NewtonX, the world’s leading B2B research company, today announced the release of its latest Current report covering cybersecurity. The report highlights the various trending topics in the industry including the challenges and opportunities organizations are facing alongside insights around budgeting, new vulnerabilities, and vendor evaluations.

NewtonX Current, the new proprietary research arm of NewtonX, asked 103 CISOs, CTOs, CIOs, and cybersecurity decision-makers about the biggest present-day challenges faced by the industry. The NewtonX Current report contains summarized insights, detailed charts, and recommendations to give security professionals a 360-degree perspective of what is happening in the industry to make informed decisions. It also includes a never-before-seen cybersecurity report card that details exactly how cybersecurity decision-makers evaluate solutions providers.

“COVID-19 and the evolution of remote and hybrid work have changed the landscape for cybersecurity professionals and the types of threats companies face,” said Patiwat Panurach, VP of Strategic Insights and Analytics at NewtonX. “The insights we’ve uncovered speak to the mission of NewtonX Current, which is to find answers to real-world problems from highly qualified sources who can shed light on untapped opportunities and industry-changing solutions.”

Key survey findings include:

  • 99% of cybersecurity budgets increased or stayed flat in the last year
  • The pace of breaches increased for a third of the companies polled
  • Most companies aren’t paying ransomware attackers, but they also aren’t revealing their budget for ransomware
  • 60% of companies cited compromised user credentials among incident increases in the past year

The COVID-19 pandemic dramatically changed the workplace forcing companies to digitally transform their businesses and rethink how they use technology. Cybersecurity professionals warn that this transition, which continues to accelerate at lightning speed, will inevitably lead to a rise in threats as technology evolves and changes. The NewtonX report offers helpful insights that security experts can take away and use to implement better cybersecurity standards for their workplace.

NewtonX Current Cybersecurity Report Topics include:

  • Decision-making: The biggest drivers
  • Budget: Trends and allocations of spending and staffing
  • Vulnerabilities: Who faced incidents and how they were resolved
  • Cybersecurity Management: How are companies shaping their security agendas
  • Vendor Evaluations: Decision-making criteria for provider evaluations

The cybersecurity report by NewtonX can be found online at https://www.newtonx.com/article/newtonx-current-cybersecurity.
