Located at 375 Pearl Street in Lower Manhattan, Intergate.Manhattan continues to be New York’s pre-eminent data center/carrier hotel
NEW YORK – Seattle-based Sabey Data Centers announced today that Flume Internet, a provider of high-bandwidth, low-cost internet service for residential buildings in New York City, has signed a long-term lease at Intergate.Manhattan, Sabey’s New York data center and carrier hotel.
Flume uses next-generation optical technology as well as dense fiber networks to deliver gigabit broadband service to New York’s apartment buildings, fulfilling increased demand for business-grade connectivity as greater numbers of employees work from home during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Robert Rockwood, President of Sabey Data Centers, said, “With the addition of Flume as a new, valued tenant, Intergate.Manhattan continues to be the city’s pre-eminent data center/carrier hotel for the support of small to large requirements. Flume will serve their customers throughout the city via rooftop antenna and fiber, with their backbone coming back to our carrier space at 375 Pearl Street.”
At present, Flume is installing their hardware at Intergate.Manhattan, which is expected to become operational this month.
Prashanth Vijay, Co-Founder of Flume Internet, said, “As Flume looks to launch its access broadband network, we are big fans of the resiliency and dense fiber availability of the Sabey data center.”
He added, “Across the US only 6% of residences have true fiber-to-the-home broadband. Flume sees a large market opportunity to bring competition to home broadband using a dark fiber approach with potential for fixed wireless extension. At Intergate.Manhattan, our team is combining a major data center with dense fiber to power our access networks. This will create for a far more reliable and speedy service while allowing us to add and manage new locations easily at scale.”
Dan Meltzer, Managing Director, Sales, for Sabey Data Centers, said, “We are honored that Flume looked at other carrier hotels in New York, and chose ours because they had a comfort level with Sabey.
He added, “I believe that data center tenants have advantages in placing their trust in a carrier hotel owned and operated by Sabey Data Centers versus other buildings in Manhattan that are owned by real estate investors and have many data center operators in it.”
Luis Gonzalez, Senior Manager Network Operations at Flume, added, “We chose Sabey’s Intergate.Manhattan as Flume’s main colocation data center in NYC because of the great price and catalog of service with access to a large variety of carriers in its beautiful building. We are glad to have Sabey as a partner.”
