HÖRMANN Warnsysteme Presents Innovative CCCS3i Control Platform for Resilient Siren Warning Systems in Critical Infrastructure and for the First Time – Text-to-Speech Messaging via Control Center
KIRCHSEEON – HÖRMANN Warnsysteme presents the siren as a multifunctional, intelligent warning and information medium at INTERSCHUTZ. The focus is on the newly developed CCCS3i control platform for siren warning systems of any size. Independent from grid power, enhanced with text-to-speech messaging and optionally, closely integrated with sensors, the multifunctional siren thus reinforces its leading status as a reliable, automated warning medium in critical infrastructure.
At INTERSCHUTZ, HÖRMANN Warnsysteme presents for the first time the newly developed CCCS3i platform solution for central control and management of siren warning systems of any size (2 to 4,000+ sirens). The development is based on over 30 years of experience in the manufacturing and operation of siren warning systems.
Siren warning systems are part of critical infrastructure. Their operational capability must be guaranteed even under problematic conditions. Futureproofing, scalability, ease of use, and resilience against external influences have emerged as key aspects. Electronic sirens are independent from the power grid thanks to their integrated battery and alternative power sources such as solar, and thus function even during a power outage.
Whether it is a small warning system in an industrial environment, at dams, on golf courses, in cities and municipalities or a regional or nationwide siren warning system: the CCCS3i platform is precisely tailored to meet specific needs. When the system is expanded or multiple systems are interconnected, the platform can be scaled accordingly. Existing control centers can be easily upgraded to the new platform technology.
Among the advantages is a user-friendly interface that is easy to operate after just a few minutes of training. Traffic light colored icons display the status of each siren – operators see at a glance the condition of their sirens and can react quickly. Role-based models allow targeted assignment of areas and responsibilities.
The intelligent text-to-speech technology of the CCCS3i sets a milestone. This function closes the gap between alerting and information and enables dispatchers in the control center to supplement the alarm with a clear, unambiguous voice messages. The control center is able to send voice information directly to one or multiple sirens. For example, in the event of a warning concerning toxic gases, it is possible to transmit the information “Close your windows and stay at home” following the alarm.
Thus, the siren not only warns but also informs.
The possible integration of sensors (weather, fire, water level, vibrations, etc.) based on the MQTT messaging standard enables automated and accelerated alerting and thus even greater safety for those affected. Each connected medium, whether siren or sensor, can be addressed via various communication channels for increased fault tolerance. The CCCS3i platform is thus a resilient, deliberately internet-independent solution for critical warning infrastructure.
The CCCS3i platform is complemented by a secure web tool for monitoring the siren status (e.g. via mobile phone). Additionally, the RCS 3i, a single-channel control station for smaller siren warning systems, such as those in municipalities or industrial facilities, is part of the exhibition program.
HÖRMANN Warnsysteme demonstrates that the modern siren will be multifunctional in the future in the context of the KriKom project (German Crisis Communication initative). This collaborative project of the Meißen district in Germany integrates sirens and sensors. The siren presented at INTERSCHUTZ is equipped with ultrasonic distance sensors for capturing water levels, a multisensor for capturing environmental data, and a panic button. Environmental data stored in the cloud is visualized via a tablet.
