Weathering a Hurricane: Protecting Data From a Massive Storm

When a hurricane moves from “watch” to “warning,” then it’s likely you and your business only have a day or less to prepare. Part of this preparation should be laser focused on how to best save your company’s data, which is the lifeblood of the modern organization. Ideally, your business will already have in place an emergency disaster recovery plan as well as supplies such as food, water, and documents. Add electronic devices and data management to this list to ensure proprietary company information isn’t lost or falls into unauthorized hands after a hurricane strikes. Back-up Data to Multiple Sources Make a list of any external hard drives or other physical storage devices that should be removed from the business before evacuating the area. A written dynamic list is best because it allows you to pack items quickly, without wasting valuable time. However, it’s advisable to avoid this scenario altogether by ensuring
