Workforce Continuity in a New Age


Push back your chair for a moment and think about your evolving workplace. Any difference from, say, five years ago? In particular, consider how many of your employees rely on a smartphone, iPad, or other mobile devices for business communications. Not only did these devices not exist, but the whole concept of powerful mobile computing devices didn’t exist all that long ago. It’s hard to believe the first 3G iPhone was sold in 2008, isn’t it? Now consider how many workers are using their own devices at work as well as when they’re telecommuting (or on vacation). Dwell on why your employees use those mobile devices either at work or when working from home, car, airplane, or a nearby coffee shop. Are they using their device for everyday work, managing crises, communicating in good and bad environments, or relaying invaluable information? What should this short examination underscore? That not only do you need
