Gaining Knowledge From the Experts

We are working hard to prepare for DRJ Fall 2018, our 59th conference. The behind-the-scenes work to plan such an established conference with high-quality presentations by the industry’s most well-known and respected professionals takes months of preparation. From informative general sessions to hands-on workshops and breakout sessions, attendees gain first-hand knowledge and insider secrets to help strengthen their organizations. I have also been reading submissions for this issue of DRJ, where two articles resonated with me. Michael Herrera’s piece titled “Stand Up for Your Program” essentially says planners should be re-thinking how they talk about their program to other people within the organization. People are always quick to tell them to pitch “return on investment,” which is how it makes the company money, but they shouldn’t forget their core responsibility of protecting the company’s valuable data and recovering it as soon as possible in the event of an emergency.
