My Inner Sheepdog

I had the pleasure of attending a presentation by a friend of mine with the FBI, Doug Jones. He had attended an intensive course titled “Leading Strategic Change” at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. I thought the premise of his talk was profound because it gave me a new perspective on the good people and organizations I have served, bad people and events that cause harm, and those whose chosen vocation is to prepare and protect. My career in business continuity has been more than just a job; it is something more akin to a calling. Allow me to explain. Most companies are populated with sheep. I mean nothing negative by calling them sheep. They are good people, focused on their day-to-day jobs, productive creatures who cannot imagine a world without green grass, sunshine, and that uninterrupted daily routine.
