The Year Ahead for Cloud Providers with Brexit and GDPR


Prepared U.S. companies that do business in the UK and EU have spent much of 2017 organizing for the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and closely watching the UK’s decision to leave the European Union (Brexit). Combined, these two seismic events create a unique and complex environment for cloud companies. While we do not know what will be the exact outcome of the Brexit negotiations or what regulations will eventually prevail, we do expect new and significant challenges for the fast-growing cloud computing market. Here is my assessment of the current state of play and the likely effects on cloud companies as both Brexit and the GDPR loom closer.
