When Disaster Strikes, Will Your People Be Prepared?

Written by  Michael Croy

It was a quiet Thursday in September, 80 degrees with blue skies, when a chemical-laden 18-wheeler tanker truck was cut off on the I-94 Expressway heading southbound, just north of Chicago. The truck swerved off the road, jumped the culvert and ran 156 feet into the southeast side of the Forsythe Technology corporate headquarters building in Skokie, Ill. The alarms sounded and 357 people were forced to evacuate as the lights went out and smoke spread through the hallways. Several people remained behind, injured and incapacitated, while an unknown substance began seeping into the building.
