Preparing for the Expected Earthquake in Israel

Experts agree that a devastating earthquake that would affect Israel dramatically is just a matter of time. It may happen today, tomorrow, the next year, or in 10 years, but it would surely happen. The Israeli government committee in charge of preparations for that earthquake, which is a multilateral committee led by Dr. Avi Shapira, the senior expert in earthquakes in the country, assumes that the magnitude in Israel can reach up to 7.5 on the Richter scale and cause thousands of casualties or more. There is no way to predict an earthquake, as it will hit by surprise, but experts agree that the source of the devastating quake will surely be somewhere along the Dead Sea fault rift that crosses the entire country from north to south or the Yagur fault rift, which is located in the northern part of the country, from Haifa to the Sea of Galilee. For more than 30
