El Niño & Preparing for the Worst

The forces of nature are as powerful as they are unpredictable, or so the story goes. The reality, in fact, is that while the specific outcomes of weather events may be difficult to determine, there exist plenty of patterns from which we can glean enough information to shape our behavior. After all, bringing an umbrella to work isn’t a decision made on a whim. With this in mind, when certain patterns begin to form that suggest a large-scale event on the horizon, no business should have to claim ignorance when encountering the end results. Establishing a disaster preparedness plan for business is as essential of a job requirement for the heads of companies as is maintaining a solid second string for sports teams. Simply put, a business continuity plan (BCP) is so easily instituted that business leaders owe it to their employees and customers to have one in place. Especially
