Healthcare Organizations Can No Longer Ignore Data Security

If your healthcare organization did not prioritize cybersecurity before September’s announcement by Equifax that 145.5 million customer records had been breached, it likely does now. There have been larger breaches. (Yahoo had 3 billion records compromised.) The fact that a company that deals in data could not keep its own data secure sent shivers through the C-suites in most industries, particularly in healthcare. Data breaches have become almost routine among healthcare organizations, which never was the intent of HIPAA regulations.
