In May, NOAA released its predictions for the 2019 hurricane season. Central Pacific storms were predicted to be above normal activity, while Atlantic storms were predicted to be near normal. Of course, the definition of normal does not suggest anyone should rest easy. In fact, the NOAA prediction for the central Pacific area said this: “There is a 70 percent chance of above-normal tropical cyclone activity during the central Pacific hurricane season this year.
